Sorig was founded to address a critical gap in healthcare, where increasing staffing demands place growing strain on hospitals and nurses are often left without the level of support needed to perform at their best.
Our founders know this gap firsthand, because they’ve lived on both sides of it. Sorig was built by two travel nurses: one born and raised in Canada, the other having journeyed from the mountains of Nepal to build a life and a nursing career here. Between them, they carry the perspective of a nurse raised within the Canadian healthcare system, and one who arrived, adapted, and thrived within it – two very different paths that led to the same bedside, and the same conclusion: healthcare staffing could, and should, work better for everyone involved.
With combined experience at the bedside, they witnessed both the operational pressures within healthcare facilities and the challenges nurses face navigating travel roles through traditional agencies. These experiences shaped a clear vision: to build a model that serves both sides of that equation, not just one.
That vision is reflected in the name itself. Sorig draws from Sowa Rigpa, the Himalayan science and art of healing – a tradition rooted in the same mountains one of our founders calls home, and a fitting namesake for a company built to bring more care into how healthcare itself is staffed.
Sorig brings a balanced, thoughtful approach to healthcare staffing – delivering reliable, high-quality professionals to healthcare facilities, while ensuring nurses are guided, supported, and valued throughout every stage of their journey. No matter how remote the hospital or how urgent the need, our goal is the same: the right people, caring for patients, wherever in Canada they’re needed.
At its core, Sorig is grounded in a shared commitment – one built on the unity of two very different journeys, brought together by a singular purpose: strengthening healthcare teams and enabling the consistent delivery of exceptional patient care, for every nurse and every hospital we serve.
